RF Microneedling

Heat-based microneedling that tightens skin, smooths texture, and softens scars.

About RF Microneedling

RF microneedling combines controlled micro-injury with heat to tighten skin, improve texture, and remodel deeper tissue. At Tribeca Park Dermatology, options include Morpheus8 and Fractora, allowing your dermatologist to tailor depth and intensity to your goals and skin type.

Best For

  • Texture
  • Acne scars
  • Fine lines
  • Mild laxity
  • Enlarged pores
  • Stretch marks

Why RF Microneedling

  • Combines microneedling with radiofrequency heat for deeper remodeling
  • Safe for all skin tones — including those that can’t safely receive lasers
  • Targets concerns laser can’t safely treat (eye area, lip line, body)
  • Two device options — Morpheus8 (deeper) and Fractora (surface-focused)
  • Pairs with PRP for amplified collagen response and faster healing

How It Works

  1. 01

    Device Selection

At consultation your dermatologist selects Morpheus8 or Fractora based on your concerns — deeper laxity and body contouring versus facial resurfacing.

  2. 02

    Treatment

Microscopic gold-tipped pins deliver radiofrequency energy into the dermis at adjustable depths from 1mm to 7mm. The heat triggers collagen restructuring.

  3. 03

    Healing & Building

Mild redness for 1 to 3 days. Pinpoint pattern fades within 48 hours. Collagen continues building for 3 months. Most patients complete 1 to 3 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart.

What to Expect

  • 30- to 60-minute session depending on device and area
  • 1 to 3 days of redness; pinpoint pattern visible briefly
  • Visible improvement at 2 weeks; continued building for 3 months
  • 1 to 4 sessions depending on goals and intensity
  • PRP layering available for accelerated healing

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between Morpheus8 and Fractora?

Both are InMode RF microneedling platforms. Morpheus8 reaches significantly deeper (up to 7mm) and is ideal for body contouring, substantial laxity, and adipose remodeling. Fractora is the resurfacing-focused device — ideal for fine lines, acne scars, eye area, and lip line. Many patients use both for different goals.

Is RF microneedling safe for darker skin tones?

Yes. Because RF energy bypasses melanin, RF microneedling is safe across all Fitzpatrick skin types — making it one of the few resurfacing and tightening options for darker skin tones.

How is RF microneedling different from regular microneedling?

Standard microneedling creates surface micro-injury that stimulates collagen production. RF microneedling adds radiofrequency heat that remodels the dermis from below — more powerful for skin tightening, body contouring, and deeper concerns. RF requires more recovery (1 to 3 days) versus standard microneedling (24 to 48 hours).

Can RF microneedling be done on the eye area?

Yes — with Fractora. Fractora is one of the few devices safe and effective on the eyelids and around the eyes, addressing crepiness, fine lines, and laxity.

How many sessions do I need?

Depending on intensity and goals, 1 to 4 sessions spaced 1 month apart are typically advised. Body areas and deeper concerns often require the full series.

Can I add PRP to RF microneedling?

Yes. PRP layering or injection with Morpheus8 or Fractora is available for $500 to $1,000 added per session. The combination accelerates healing and amplifies collagen response.

When will I see results?

Visible improvement starts at 2 weeks and continues building for 3 months as collagen remodels. Most patients see their final result around 90 days post-treatment.
